Duaa Ahmed is originally from Gaza, Palestine. Before relocating to Ireland, she spent seven years working as an elementary English language teacher with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
Her time teaching in Gaza was deeply meaningful, shaped by a strong belief in the power of education to heal, empower, and instill hope in young people. She takes great pride in supporting her students to build self-confidence, develop communication skills, and believe in their own potential, helping them to feel more resilient and optimistic about their futures.
In October 2023, the war in Gaza profoundly altered her life. She experienced the devastating loss of family members, friends, students, and the life she once knew. In the face of this hardship, she made the determined decision to take control of her future and continue moving forward. She successfully applied for a scholarship to pursue a Master’s degree in Education at Mary Immaculate College in Limerick, a step that has proven transformative.
Now living in Ireland, Duaa has found a sense of peace and community. Surrounded by kindness and support, she has built meaningful friendships and connections. Her journey has reinforced her belief that solidarity, compassion, and humanity extend beyond borders
